C-Furo 250mg Tablet is a cephalosporin-group antibiotic containing Cefuroxime, used to treat various bacterial infections, including acute bacterial otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, typhoid, skin infections, gonorrhea, early Lyme disease, and post-surgical infections. Cefuroxime belongs to the beta-lactam antibiotic category, where it binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) inside the bacterial cell wall, inhibiting the final stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. This results in bacterial cell lysis, mediated by autolytic enzymes such as autolysins. Additionally, Cefuroxime may interfere with an autolysin inhibitor, further promoting bacterial breakdown.
