Hetrose is an intravenous (IV) iron formulation, designed for rapid correction of iron deficiency, in CKD patients.
Should be administered as an infusion, diluted in 0.9m/V sodium chloride solution.
- Ferric carboxy maltose replenishes iron stores.
- After IV administration, the complex is broken down slowly, releasing bioavailable iron in a controlled manner.
- This iron is taken up by transferrin and delivered to the bone marrow for haemoglobin production and red blood cell formation.
