Feel overwhelmed when you want to buy a moisturizer for your skin? While choosing the right moisturizer may seem confusing, it's actually very simple if you follow a few guidelines. Knowing your skin type and what your skin needs will help you make the right choice. A Guide to Understanding Your Skin Better
A skin moisturizer works by sealing moisture into the outer layer of the skin and by pulling moisture from the inner layers of skin to the outer layer. There are many creams and lotions available in the market for dry, oily & combination skin. It is important to understand the difference between a lotion and cream to rightfully supply to the need of your skin.
Lotions have a higher percentage of water as compared to creams with a higher percentage of oil
Lotions are more lightweight & non-greasy than creams which are heavier and richer in moisture
Lotions are more easily absorbed whereas creams once absorbed keep skin ultra-hydrated
Lotions are recommended during day time and in hot-summer days, and creams during night-time or for excessively dry skin
So, choose a moisturizer that is skin-type and skin-need appropriate. If you have dry skin, get something richer in moisture like Moiste Cream. If you have oily skin, go with a light, non-comedogenic, non-greasy moisturizer that does not clog your pores, like Moiste Lotion. And if you have combination skin, go with a lighter moisturizer for your whole face and dot drier areas with a heavier cream. If you know you have sensitive skin, it's always a good idea to look for a moisturizer labeled hypoallergenic. Keep in mind that you may need a lighter lotion in the summer, and a cream or ointment in the winter.
