PIDs may result in pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal discharge, fever, urination, or sexual pain if left untreated. They are also associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Vaginal Yeast infections

Women often suffer from these conditions. They are caused by an overgrowth of a fungus known as Candida, which usually occurs in small amounts in the vagina.

Symptoms such as itching, burning, and vaginal discharge can occur when there is a disruption in the balance between bacteria and yeast in the vagina.

Several factors, like antibiotics, hormonal changes, diabetes, sexual activity, etc., cause vaginal yeast infections.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

Infections are spread through sexual contact, including vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Bacteria, viruses, or parasites cause many types of STIs.

Some common STIs are Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Genital herpes, Human papillomavirus (HPV), HIV/AIDS, etc cause STIs.

Parasitic infections

The infections are single-celled parasites that can infect the gastrointestinal tract. These parasites are typically spread through contaminated food or water and can cause various symptoms, including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, and fatigue like Amoebiasis, giardiasis, etc., causing such infections.
