It is commonly prescribed for conditions such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), rheumatoid arthritis that does not respond well to standard treatments, and vasculitis disorders like granulomatosis with polyangiitis. Usage Instructions

  • Maball is given only as a slow intravenous infusion in a hospital.
  • Do not self-administer or inject at home.
  • Pre-medication with antihistamines, paracetamol, and sometimes corticosteroids is standard practice before each infusion to reduce reaction risk.
  • Dosage, infusion rate, and number of cycles are decided by the treating oncologist or rheumatologist based on diagnosis and response to prior doses.

  • Pregnant:

Women of childbearing age are advised to use effective contraception during treatment and for 12 months after the last dose.
  • Breastfeeding:
  • Rituximab can pass into breast milk, and its effects on a nursing infant aren't fully established, so breastfeeding isn't recommended during treatment. Doctors generally advise waiting at least 6 months after the final dose before resuming breastfeeding.
  • Alcohol:
  • There's no direct recorded interaction between alcohol and Rituximab, but since this medicine can affect liver function, particularly in patients with prior Hepatitis B, alcohol is best avoided during treatment. Always check with your doctor before drinking, especially alongside other medications.
  • Kidney disorders:
  • Maball 100 mg can occasionally affect kidney function, especially in patients with a high tumour burden, where rapid cell breakdown raises the risk of tumour lysis syndrome. Your doctor will monitor kidney function closely through blood tests before and after each infusion.
  • Lung disorders:
  • Infusion reactions associated with Rituximab can include breathing difficulty, wheezing, or low oxygen levels, so patients with existing lung conditions are monitored more closely during infusion. Tell your doctor if you have asthma, COPD, or any history of lung infection before starting treatment.
