Molnupiravir is a drug that creates errors in multiplication of the virus thus leading to stopping viral from increasing in body and reduce infection.
COVID-19 positive adult patients with mild symptoms. Patients with SpO2>93% and have high risk of progression of the disease including hospitalization or death.
MOVFOR can be taken at home with medical prescription and under doctor’s guidance.
The recommended dose of Molnupiravir is 800 mg (four 200 mg capsules) taken orally every 12 hours for 5 days.
MOVFOR capsules should not be used for longer than 5 consecutive days.
The capsules should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of fluid (e.g., a glass of water). The capsules should not be opened, crushed or chewed.
Molnupiravir 200 mg capsules can be taken along with or without food.
If the patient misses a dose of Molnupiravir within 10 hours of the time it is usually taken, the patient should take as soon as possible and resume the normal dosing schedule. If a patient misses a dose by more than 10 hours, the patient should not take the missed dose and instead take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time. The patient should not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
Older patients can take MOVFOR without any dose changes.
MOVFOR can be given to patients with Liver or kidney issues without making any dosing changes.
No study is performed in patients below 18 years of age. Hence there is no data available. Doctor will need to evaluate the situation and decide whether to use MOVFOR in these patients.

MOVFOR should not be given during breast feeding and for 4 days after the last dose of molnupiravir.
There are less chances of MOVFOR interfering with other drugs. The Doctor will need to evaluate your medications and decide how to use MOVFOR in these patients.
There can be side effects with the use of MOVFOR. Common ones are diarrhea, nausea, dizziness and headache and uncommon or rare are vomiting, rash and hives. Inform your doctor if you experience any side effects with MOVFOR
Both Favipiravir and Molnupiravir are antivirals (Works against corona Virus), doctor will have to evaluate the situation and decide whether to there is a need to use MOVFOR.
