Description:

Ifapen H is a FDC of Rifapentine 300mg and Isoniazid 300mg used in Latent TB treatment. It’s a short course (3HP) TB preventive treatment of 12 doses (3months).

Rifapentine belongs to Rifamycin class of antibiotic and acts by inhibiting DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby stopping bacterial growth and helping prevent latent TB from progressing to active disease while Isoniazid works by inhibiting the production of mycolic acid, an essential component of the TB bacterial cell wall, thereby weakening and killing susceptible TB bacteria. Thus, together they help eliminate latent TB bacteria and reduce the risk of progression to Active TB.
